Meet Dr. Linda Hubbard Curtis

Dr. Linda Hubbard Curtis, the co-author of Rising with the Son-Day by Day, is a native of Durham, North Carolina. During the mid-1960s, her family moved to Los Angeles, California. After graduating from Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, she was accepted at Spelman College. After one year at Spelman College, she transferred to North Carolina Central University, Durham, North Carolina, where she received her undergraduate and graduate degrees. Dr. Hubbard Curtis earned her Ph.D. degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Carbondale, Illinois.

During the next 44 years, her career weaved a service path from PK-12 education to post-secondary higher education.  Dr. Hubbard Curtis served 22 years within the PK-12 environment as a Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Student Services Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Principal. She devoted another 22 years to higher education serving as, Department Chair, Dean, and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. In addition to her experience at the higher education level, Dr. Hubbard Curtis served as an Educational Consultant II at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. In this position, she collaborated with public and private institutions regarding their teacher education programs. This involvement allowed her to see how institutions addressed various issues related to students entering the teaching field.

Throughout her career, Dr. Curtis has been a vigilant advocate for students. As a recent retiree, as Vice Provost of Academic Affairs from Saint Augustine’s University, she founded the H&C Independent Educational Consultant, LLC Company. H&C is a consulting company with a passion for helping parents, guardians, and students by encouraging them to believe that post-secondary success in four-year colleges/universities, community colleges, vocational programs, or careers are all achievable goals. Her company also commits to helping parents and students prepare and gain acceptance into college while making sure students are taking the right courses and understanding the importance of maintaining good grades. H&C encourages students to be involved in school and community activities to positively impact their matriculation from high school to college to vocational programs and careers.  Through this process, students will be empowered to design their pathway to success.
